What is the EU-US DPF?
The EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (the “DPF”) is the new transfer mechanism allowing the cross- border transfer of personal data from the EU to the U.S. The DPF replaces the old, invalidated Privacy Shield and is the legal alternative to the cumbersome and confusing EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC).
Why is the DPF valuable or even necessary?
- The DPF is a legal basis for the free flow of data from the EU to the U.S.
- Certification to the DPF avoids spending time and resources negotiating contracts and SCCs with EU-based customers.
